PLDT’s wireless arm Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) is accelerating 5G adoption in the country and enabling more customers to maximize their ever-growing digital lifestyles in 2022.
“As we enter 2022, we should not only aim to grow the business through our current lens. We also need to lay down the foundation for a future that is already happening now,” said Jane J. Basas, Senior Vice President and Head of Consumer Wireless Business at Smart.
Smart is also further scaling its GigaLife App, which has over 10 million users in just a year after its launch, as well as ramping up 5G adoption among subscribers, driving data usage while providing the best experience to customers with Smart 5G-certified devices.
Among these devices is the recently launched plug-and-play Smart Bro Home WiFi 5G, the country’s first-ever 5G-powered Prepaid Home WiFi. Seen to bring wireless fiber-like speeds to more Filipino homes, it allows WiFi-enabled devices such as phones, tablets, and laptops to take advantage of next-level 5G speeds.
Smart currently serves the most number of mobile data users in the country at 40 million.
“Partnerships with global brands such as Apple and Netflix, as well as enhanced prepaid and postpaid offers and digital innovations, will be key to serving our existing customers better and driving new customers to prefer our services in 2022,” Basas added.
Smart is also set to expand the GigaLife App to serve more customers in 2022, starting with PLDT Home Fiber subscribers, in addition to being the one-stop-app and engagement platform for Smart Prepaid, Signature, Infinity, Bro, TNT, and PLDT and Smart Bro Home WiFi customers.
Currently, the GigaLife App is enhancing customers’ digital lifestyle with digital payments via GigaPay with PayMaya, which allows users to link their PayMaya wallet for in-app transactions such as buying load, subscribing to promos, and paying bills; and innovative services that provide exclusive experiences on the Smart network such as the GigaPlay App, which allows Smart subscribers to watch exclusive content such as the NBA, the PBA, K-Pop concerts, its first pay-per-view film, “Love is Color Blind”, and exclusive access to the most loved Korean dramas and variety shows via the 24/7 stream of the TVN Premium Channel.
With its integrated rewards platform GigaPoints, subscribers can convert points earned into data offers, products and devices. Through the GigaLife App, Smart Prepaid, Smart Postpaid, Smart Bro, Prepaid WiFi and TNT subscribers can also register to join GigaMania, which runs until Feb. 6, 2022.
Powering these services is Smart’s network, which has been cited as the fastest* and most reliable** 5G network by Ookla.
